Credentials
These are the credentials our couriers maintain. They are the set a healthcare facility asks for before a specimen or a pharmacy order gets in the car.
Couriers who see patient information on labels, manifests, and dispatch notes complete HIPAA privacy and security training. Contracted accounts can be covered by a business associate agreement. HIPAA does not issue a government certificate to couriers. What we keep is documented training and the agreement.
Annual training under 29 CFR 1910.1030 for work where a leak, spill, or damaged container could expose a courier to blood or other potentially infectious material. Spill response is part of that training.
Training under 49 CFR 172.704 for the functions our couriers perform. Routine diagnostic specimens travel as Biological Substance, Category B, UN3373. Dry ice, when a frozen shipment needs it, is handled as a Class 9 material, UN1845.
Packages leave sealed and labeled. The pickup contact and the delivery contact are named on the request, and both ends sign. The run record keeps the addresses, the window, and the handling.
